Eukalyptus creates abstract paintings by applying chance-driven forms to canvas, primarily using modeling paste, acrylic paint, and pearl paint. The impression of each work shifts depending on whether it is seen in photographs or in person, and under natural or artificial light.
Eukalyptus Retrospective is the artist’s first exhibition at Gallery NOOOG.
The exhibition looks back over three years of developing practice, reflects on three previous solo exhibitions, and traces the process that led to the artist’s current exploration of “coexistence.” It also looks ahead to the future direction of the work. The artist’s present approach to modeling paste and pearl paint has grown from this accumulated body of practice.
This will be the final opportunity to see and purchase these series of works presented together as a substantial group.
Eukalyptus
After graduating from Yokohama Music School, Eukalyptus has worked as an abstract painter, primarily presenting solo exhibitions in Tokyo and Kanagawa. Using modeling paste, acrylic paint, and pearl paint, the artist creates chance-driven forms on canvas whose impressions shift across photographs, direct viewing, natural light, and artificial light. Recent work draws on forest ecosystems, marine ecosystems, and the artist’s own experiences and philosophy.
